Many of our partners work with us on a variety of special projects. Some are national, while others are delivered more locally.
MEND is working together with NHS East London and the City, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Bupa to run Building Powerful Communities. This new project aims to tackle obesity in Tower Hamlets and help thousands of children and adults to lead fitter, healthier and happier lives.
Community Activity Leaders
This project gave over 140 young people who were not in employment, education or training (NEETs) in England the chance to get a job in the leisure industry. The project was delivered by MEND, DC Leisure and Lifetime and funded using an award from the Department for Work and Pensions’ Future Jobs Fund.
Healthy Lifestyle roadshow
MEND and Diabetes UK are visiting 70 locations across England during 2011 and to help people in the most deprived and ‘at risk’ areas in the country to discover whether they are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
We have partnered with Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust to run a mentoring scheme that uses world class athletes to inspire and empower families to be fitter, healthier and happier.
MEND in Tower Hamlets
Morgan Stanley International Foundation has funded 18 MEND courses in Tower Hamlets over two years, starting in June 2010. The courses will help over 200 children to maintain a healthier lifestyle and are being delivered in partnership with NHS East London and the City (formerly NHS Tower Hamlets).
Details of more of MEND's special projects will be published here very soon.
